VIEWPOINTS

- Included in the STUDIO XRT CONSERVATORY program
- Taught by Joel Gelman
Viewpoints is a unique technique that spans many artistic disciplines. It is used to inspire an actor’s sense of playfulness and ability to follow impulses leading to truly improvisational life. Furthermore, this work trains the artist to build ensemble and group mind, to create original material, and to shape existing set material. During the course of this acting class, students will acquire each of those benefits as well as gain an increased awareness of the elements of theater: space, shape, time, emotion, movement, and story. The class begins by isolating and working extensively on each element, and continues by reconstructing with our increased Viewpoints awareness. This work gives the actor the ability to instantely fill any piece of material with the vital ingredients that go into all dynamic storytelling: inspiration, ensemble, and improvisational life.
